Soros reports 14.3 percent stake in Auxilium

WASHINGTON, July 7 (Reuters) - Billionaire financier George Soros reported on Thursday he holds a 14.3 percent stake in Auxilium Pharmaceuticals Inc. (AUXL.O: Quote, Profile, Research), which develops urology and sexual health products, according to a regulatory filing.

Soros owned 4.2 million shares of Auxilium as of June 30, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Earlier this week, Soros disclosed that he had bought 612,089 shares of Auxilium for $4.90 per share on June 30, bringing his direct ownership stake to almost 3.9 million shares.

On the same day, Soros also bought warrants to purchase another 153,022 Auxilium shares, which carry a conversion price of $5.84 each, the earlier filing said.

Auxilium's recent proxy reveals that Soros held 3.4 million shares, or a 16.5 percent stake in the company, as of mid-April.

Shares of Auxilium closed at $4.90 per share on Wednesday.
